THESIS: Gonzalo Mendez: An Influential Leader with an Ultimate Legacy
Gonzalo Mendez was one of the first Hispanics to address and act upon the voices of the Mexican-American communities whose civil rights were being violated in California during the 1940's. He had the vision to end the segregation of Hispanic children in education. Gonzalo's influence in the Mendez v. Westminster court case motivated communities to join his cause and inspired the future Brown v. Board of Education case. His enduring strength allowed him to overcome continuous challenges. Not only did his leadership impact his community but it extended to something far greater than what he first envisioned.
